Maurizio Tesconi is a PhD researcher in Computer Science at the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the National Research Council (CNR) of Pisa. His research interests include social web mining, social network analysis and visual analytics within the context of Open Source Intelligence.
He is responsible for the Social Sensing project, an internal project to exploit social media users as sensors for situational awareness in the aftermath of emergency events, including natural disasters and terrorist attacks.
He is currently involved in the CASSANDRA EU Project in which he leads the ICT team. He has participated in the EU co-­funded and OpeNER, KYOTO, CAPER projects.
Maurizio is also part of the permanent team of the European Laboratory on Big Data Analytics and Social Mining, performing advanced research and analyses on the emerging challenges posed by Big Data.
He currently teaches the“Big data sources, crowdsourcing, crowdsensing” course within the Master in Big Data at the University of Pisa.
He has co-authored more than 60 international publications and recently played a role in divulging the results of research activity.
