Greening the Internet

Internet-related energy consumption is a increasingly significant portion of total energy consumption in the major industrialized countries. Internet was designed without considering its impact on energy, resulting in high economic and social costs; thus future Internet design must also take into consideration any constraints and costs related to energy consumption.
