SocialTrends: A Web Application for Social Media Monitoring

The popularity, the activity and the influence of famous entities on social media are becoming object of study expecially for business purposes. This technical report describes SocialTrends, a web application, which monitors the trends of the most popular entities on the social media. In particular we illustrate three classes of metrics (popularity, activity and influence) and map them to the three most popular social media: Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. SocialTrends periodically exploits the Social APIs to retrieve statistical information about entities and show data organized in categories, channels and classes of metrics.
