A Data-Driven System for Optimal Vehicle Fleet Dimensioning and Real-Time Dispatching Based on Shareability Networks

The invention has three objectives: 1) providing a data-driven system for determining the optimal number of vehicles needed to serve a collection of trip requests; 2) defining an optimized, real-time vehicle dispatching method when the fleet operates with optimal vehicle deployment as determined in 1); and 3) combine 1) and 2) to implement a real-time, point-to-point, on-demand ride sharing system with optimal operation.
