The Operations Unit manages the registration and maintenance of domain names in the ccTLD .it. The Unit supports Registrars through a phone-in helpdesk, email, traditional mail and other systems of online interaction. It also has auditing responsibilities, in collaboration with the legal and litigation unit.
The Operations Unit has an ongoing relationship with those Registrars who have a contract with the Registry in order to better manage the assignment and management of dot it domain names.
The Operations Unit helps draft technical regulations and legislation on procedures for registering and maintaining domain names in the ccTLD .it.
The main business operations of the Unit are based on:
- interactions with Registrars,
- already registered domain names
- management of the registration and maintenance of domain names in the ccTLD .it.
One of the main objectives of the Operations Unit is to improve relations with Registrars by incorporating their needs in order to provide an efficient response to all requests for registration, and all the operations necessary for the maintenance of registered domain names, both in terms of quality and execution times.
The Registry provides Registrars with synchronous registration, with procedures that no longer provide involve paperwork, except for some specific operations assigned to the unit. The Operations Unit also manages operations related to the activation of domain names that are reserved and subject to reassignment, verification of subjective requirements, spot checks, bulk transfers, and written communications to Registrars as a result of access to documents and / or disputes.
