The Unit drafts contracts to support the registration of domain names through a number of technical intermediaries (Registrars). The Unit ensures a proper contractual document that gives the Registry guarantees, in terms of what is delegated to Registrars, for the registration and management of domain names, and the respect of the clauses in the contract.

In addition, since there is an accreditation test for the synchronous registration of domains, after the contract has been sent, the contracts section helps Registrars to manage the activities to be carried out regarding their accreditation, so as to minimize any contractual problems.

The Unit thus interacts with Registrars, via a phone-in helpdesk and email, to explain contractual issues with regard to data processing, service delivery, billing, and managing advance payments.

In terms of the responsibilities of both the Registry and the Registrar following the signing of the agreement, the Unit also handles the problems of companies in relation to transforming the companies themselves and their relationship with the Institute for Informatics and Telematics, as well as optimizing the assignment of contracts that characterize the field of domain names.
