When traceroute Met BGP… How to reveal hidden internet as-level connectivity with Portolan and Isolario

The incompleteness of the Internet AS-level topologyis the most serious pitfall of research studies concerning the Internetinter-domain ecosystem. In this demo we show two projectsaimed at filling this gap by offering services to different type ofusers. The first is Portolan, a smartphone-based crowdsourcingsystem which provides an app for Android that volunteers caninstall to run traceroute measurements to discover the Internettopology. Then, we introduce Isolario, which provides real-timeservices for network operators in change of their full routingtable. Finally, we describe joint services provided by Portolanand Isolario and the benefit obtained.
